Firehouse Chef's Cookbook Is Back After 'Shark Tank' Appearance

The book sold out after Keith Young's kids appeared on the show to get funding for the late firefighter's business. Now you can get a copy.

When the Young family appeared on "Shark Tank" in October to get funding for their late father's cutting board, they captured the heart of the nation. Many people went online and ordered their father's cookbook, causing it to sell out. But now, just in time for the holidays, "Cooking with the Firehouse Chef" is back in stock.

Keith Young, a New York City firefighter who lived in Wantagh, made a name for himself with his impressive cooking skills. He appeared twice on "Chopped" and once on "Throwdown with Bobby Flay," where Young's chicken cacciatore beat the celebrity chef's. Young also wrote his own cookbook that was filled with the recipes that he prepared for his fellow firefighters in the FDNY.

An avid chef, Young had invented the Cup Board Pro in 2010. The system makes chopping and sorting things much easier and faster. But just as Young was conceptualizing his invention, his wife, Beth King, was diagnosed with breast cancer. He put everything on hold to care for her, but she died in 2012.

Young went on to compete in Food Network shows, and then went back to work on his invention. Just as he was getting the first units to sell in 2015, Young was diagnosed with a 9/11-related cancer.

He died earlier this year.

Young's children -- Christian, Keira and Kaley -- appeared on "Shark Tank" earlier this year to get funding to expand their father's business. In a rare showing of support, all five "sharks" on the show pledged $20,000 to the company, and in addition said they would donate any profits they made to charity to help other first-responders battling 9/11 illnesses.

People around the world were touched by the family's story. All supplies of the Cup Board Pro sold out, as did all copies of Young's cookbook. But now, the book is back in stock on Amazon. You can purchase your own copy of "Cooking with the Firehouse Chef" here.
