Former Wantagh Resident to Address DNC Wednesday Night

U.S. , a former Wantagh resident and  graduate, is scheduled to speak at the Democratic National Convention Wednesday night in Charlotte, N.C.

The Long Island congressman's speech will be carried live on C-SPAN beginning at 6 p.m. It will also be available on YouTube.

Israel, D-Huntington, is expected to discuss the Democratic platform and the party's efforts to take back control of the House of Representatives.

Israel, who was raised in Levittown and Wantagh as a child, precedes such notable Democrats as Elizabeth Warren and former President Bill Clinton, who are also scheduled to speak. Wednesday's program also includes a roll call vote to formally nominate President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden for reelection.

In the November election, Israel is opposed by Republican  Israel's speech before a national audience comes less than a week after at age 78.
