Illegal Fishing At Jones Beach: State Police

WANTAGH, NY — An angler was ticketed recently for pulling too many fish from the water at Jones Beach State Beach.

The state Environmental Conservation officers noticed the man on Nov. 14 had a bucket full of hickory shad, a saltwater fish, with a limit of five per day.

The fisherman was given a ticket for possessing over the limit of fish and not having a Marine registry. He is due at Nassau County First District Court at a later date, the state said.

Officers seized the fish and donated them to a wildlife rehabilitator.
