Long Island Cheeseburger Has Been Serving Up Wantagh for 15 Years
Third-year owners aim to bring restaurant to new levels.
Long Island Cheeseburger has been gracing Wantagh with mouth watering burgers and thick juicy wings for over 15 years now. However not everything has stayed in the same at the restaraunt on 3261 Merrick Road, Wantagh as third-year owner Doris Hatzikonstantinou and family are aiming to bring the local establishment to new levels.
Hatzikonstantinou, her husband Nick and brother and sister in-laws Gus and Toula have worked hard to create a warm and friendly atmopshere at Long Island Cheeseburger, welcome every patron with a smile.
In the past three years the Hatzikonstantinou family has slowly made small improvements to the restaurant such as adding a Greek flare to the menu including freshly cut gyros. They also added their soup station, which offers customers that order platters the opportunity to taste one of their fresh hot soups. In addition to their soups and gyros they also added an old family rice pudding recipe to the dessert menu. Breakfast is now also served at the establishment.

The front of Long Island Cheeseburger used to house life-size figures of both "Blues Brothers" from the 1980 hit movie with John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. One of the "Blues Brothers" is being re-painted and will be returing to greet customers very soon.
Hatzikonstantinou said the family chose to buy Long Island Cheeseburger in large part to its throw-back 1950's style atmopshere. It's nostalgic. Sll were missing is a jukebox". she said. "Another reason we bought this place was because it was small, personal and we have a great following."
