Long Island Congressman Peter King Takes Issue With Obama's Tan Suit

Tan suit is no laughing matter to Republican.

When President Obama strode to the podium in a tan suit for a press conference at the White House Thursday, it set social media ablaze.

While Twitter users mainly joked about Obama’s fashion choice, Rep. Peter King, R-Seaford, made clear on Friday that he didn’t think the president’s wardrobe selection was appropriate for a press conference in which Obama discussed threats from Islamic State militants.

“You have the whole world watching, you have a week, two weeks of anticipation of what the United States is going to do and then for him to walk out – I’m not trying to be trivial here – but in a light suit, light tan suit, saying that first he wants to talk about what most Americans care about, and he said that’s the vision of the second-quarter numbers on the economy,” King told NewsMax TV.

In the lead-up to the 2012 election, Obama told Vanity Fair that he sticks to blue and gray suits because he doesn’t “want to make decisions about what I’m eating or wearing. Because I have too many other decisions to make.”
