Man Caught With Nearly 400 Bags of Heroin in Wantagh: Police

The 30-year-old attempted to sell heroin to an undercover cop Saturday night, police say.

WANTAGH, NY - A Brooklyn man was caught with nearly 400 bags of heroin after he tried to sell drugs to an undercover cop in Wantagh Saturday night, police said.

According to Nassau Police, members of the Nassau/Suffolk Heroin Task Force, after conducting an operation involving the sale of heroin, arraigned a meeting with 30-year-old Jason Perez to purchase 400 bags of heroin from him.

After Perez arrived at a prearranged location in Wantagh, he attempted to sell bags of heroin to an undercover detective, police said. 

Perez was arrested without incident and he was found to be in possession of 390 bags of heroin, police said.

Perez is charged with third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday and is being held on $50,000 bail. He is due back in court on Thursday.
