Man Flees Police With Bags of Cocaine, Heroin: Police

The 32-year-old man left a trail of plastic bags with white powder while running into the woods following a traffic stop, police say.

SEAFORD, NY - A Queens man was arrested after he fled a traffic stop with bags of heroin and cocaine on Route 135 in Seaford last Tuesday, according to State Police.

A state trooper attempted to stop a black Nissan Altima on the Southern State Parkway near Route 135 at 12:52 p.m. on March 8, but the Nissan did not stop until it was northbound on Route 135, police said.

While interviewing the driver, 32-year-old Kevin Ramlall, the trooper detected a strong odor of marijuana and also noticed that Ramlall was extremely nervous, police said.

The trooper asked Ramlall to exit the car and it appeared that he was concealing what looked like plastic bags in the front of his pants, police said.

The trooper asked to see Ramlall's hands and he attempted to flee into the woods on the shoulder of the roadway, police said.

The trooper noticed that Ramlall was leaving a trail of plastic bags containing white powder, police said.

He was tackled by the trooper and began punching and kicking the trooper, police said. The trooper was able to handcuff Ramlall and take him into custody.

Ramlall was carrying several small bags of heroin and cocaine and had four grams of marijuana and over $2,200 cash on him, police said.

A digital scale and cell phones were found inside his vehicle.

Ramlall was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a narcotic with intent to sell, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of marijuana and unlicensed operation, police said.

Ramlall is free on $100,000 bond is due back in court on Friday.
