Mangano: Police Launch Aggressive Investigation into Bias Crime in Roosevelt

Nassau 'will not tolerate these detestable acts,' the county executive said.

An aggressive investigation by the Nassau County Police Department is underway after a swastika and racially biased statement were found painted on a U.S Post Office building in Roosevelt, Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano said Monday.

The defacement was found on the the Molineaux Place side of the post office building at 1 Babylon Turnpike on Sunday, according to authorities.

Nassau Police believe the incident occurred between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Sunday. In addition, a swastika was painted on the driveway apron on Washington Avenue in Roosevelt, officials said.

“The Nassau County Police Department is actively engaged in an investigation to identify and arrest [those] responsible for this crime, as well as to strengthen efforts to deter future incidents such as this from occurring,” Mangano said, in a statement.

“Nassau County will not tolerate these detestable acts,” he added.

To assist police, Crime Stoppers is asking anyone who can identify those responsible, or anyone with any information about this crime to call their toll free hotline at 1-800-244-TIPS (8477). Residents do not have to reveal their identity to help solve this crime. Up to $5,000 is offered to anyone with information leading to an arrest.
