Mark Small of Wantagh Appointed Board Member of Bethpage-HQ ACLD's Newly Formed ACLD Foundation

December 9, 2016; Wantagh, N.Y. – Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities, Inc. (ACLD), a leading Long Island-based, not-for-profit agency devoted to providing opportunities for children and adults with autism, learning and other developmental disabilities to purse an enviable life, has launched a Foundation to focus on fundraising and increasing awareness of ACLD’s mission. Incorporated in 2016, the ACLD Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization created to support and raise funds for the exclusive benefit of Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities, Inc. of which Mark Small of Wantagh has been appointed as board member.

“The establishment of the Foundation will allow a greater focus on raising money and securing new support to help ACLD,” said Alan Spiegel, ACLD Foundation newly appointed president. “It also will allow the ACLD Board of Trustees to focus primarily on operational issues for the organization, and I’m proud and honored to serve as the Foundation’s first president.”

Small is chief financial officer/chief operating officer at Allegiant Health, an over-the-counter pharmaceutical manufacturing company based on Long Island. His demonstrated leadership skills include cash management, operational flows, strategic planning, and acquiring funding (multiple banking relationships).

Small will work with Spiegel of Dix Hills, along with Foundation Vice President John Genova of Bay Shore and Foundation Secretary and Treasurer Jamie Engel of Port Washington.

Spiegel, whose wife Ellen serves on the ACLD Board of Trustees and whose son has received support from ACLD for more than 40 years, is a senior advisor with Anchin, Block & Anchin, LLP. He has worked extensively with high net worth individuals, family foundations and non-profit organizations, and has written numerous articles on charitable giving. A longtime supporter of ACLD, Spiegel also serves on several ACLD committees. Along with his wife, Spiegel has been a major gift-giver in support of ACLD, including their naming donation of ACLD’s Alan and Ellen Spiegel Children’s Center in Bay Shore.

Genova, principal and founder of NOVA Marketing and Communications, brings more than 25 years of global business consulting and management experience to his role. A member of the ACLD Board of Trustees since 2003 and the agency’s current Treasurer, he has helped to lead many development efforts for ACLD.

Engel has two brothers who receive support from ACLD, and his family has long-term ties to the agency. As vice president and publisher of Scholastic National Partnerships, he leads the business and creative direction of supplemental education content and classroom integration projects for marketers and organizations nationwide.

Also serving on the ACLD Foundation Board with Small are Bruce Libman of Bayside and Linda Yaccarino of Sea Cliff.

Libman, recently honored by ACLD at its 2016 Golf Outing, is founder and president of Total Networking and Consulting LLC, an organization committed to helping business owners, entrepreneurs, and professionals develop strategies to create new revenue streams through relationship marketing and proven business development techniques. He has trained hundreds of professionals in his business development philosophy and his Accountants Resource Group has more than 200 professionals in three locations.

Chairman of Advertising Sales and Client Partnerships for NBCUniversal, Yaccarino is responsible for overseeing all advertising sales and market strategy for the company’s entire television portfolio including two broadcast networks, 15 cable channels, and more than 50 digital properties. She is actively involved with Women in Cable & Telecommunications (WICT), and is on the Board at the School of Communications at Penn State University.
