Nassau Police Help Deliver Baby on Wantagh Parkway

Three officers and an AMT helped deliver baby Sophie in an ambulance on Sunday.

Three Nassau County Police officers and an AMT made a trip to the hospital Monday night to visit Sophie, a baby girl from Wantagh who they helped deliver in an ambulance early Sunday morning.

According to police, Seventh Precinct officers Erik Diaz, Michael Sherlock, and Jon Steigele, and Ambulance Medical Technician Thomas Mastakouris helped deliver Sophie in an ambulance on the Wantagh Parkway on Sunday after they responded to a 911 call about a woman in labor at her home in Wantagh.

When they arrived at 4 a.m., they put mom Stephanie right in the ambulance and headed for the hospital, Nassau Police said in a post on their Facebook page.
