Our Lady of Mercy Parish Food Pantry Is Benefiting from Local Online Food Market

OurHarvest has donated over 1,300 meals to food pantries and charities across Long Island in just the first two months of operation.

Roslyn, NY (September 5, 2014) – The strong commitment of the local online food market, OurHarvest.com, to offer consumers farm-fresh, natural foods at fair prices while supporting Long Island food banks and pantries is yielding positive results: More than 1,300 meals have already been donated to food pantries and charities across Long Island in just the first two months of the company’s operation. The organization proudly announced the significant contributions following another successful week of food market pick-ups. Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Hicksville, whose parishioners come from the Hicksville, Plainview, Bethpage and Syosset communities, is one of the local food pantries receiving meal donations from OurHarvest.com.

The Our Lady of Mercy Parish food pantry received meals of boneless skinless chicken breasts, bone-in chicken thighs, chicken drumsticks, grass-fed ground beef and London broil. The donated food is the same product offered to customers.

“Being a Community Partner of OurHarvest has allowed Our Lady of Mercy Parish to become a part of OurHarvest’s mission to make healthy, farm-fresh products available to our local communities, and give back to our neighbors in need,” said Director of Our Lady of Mercy Parish Services Mary Anne Scott. “Foods we have rarely been able to offer, such as meat, have now become available thanks to OurHarvest. We are truly grateful for this partnership that continues to assist Our Lady of Mercy Parish, our surrounding community and, most of all, our food pantry.”
