Pedestrian Struck by Car in Wantagh

The man was hospitalized with several broken bones and is listed in serious but stable condition, police say.

WANTAGH, NY - A pedestrian was hospitalized after he was hit by a car in Wantagh early Friday morning, according to Nassau Police.

The man was crossing from south to north on Sunrise Highway and Wantagh Avenue at about 12:40 a.m. when he was struck by a 2016 Nissan suburban, police said.

The car was being driven by a 27-year-old man, police said.

An ambulance transported the pedestrian, who sustained broken bones to the arm, leg and pelvis, to a local hospital where he is listed in serious but stable condition, police said.

The driver of the car was not injured.

Detectives report no apparent criminality.
