Police: 4 Officers Treated at Hospital After Garden City Man Assaults Them

Incident occurred in Westbury Monday night.

A Garden City man faces numerous charges after police say he assaulted officers who were called to Westbury Monday night after the man caused damage to a glass door at a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant.

According to police, officers responded to the restaurant located at 737 Merrick Avenue after the manager called and stated that a man had kicked one of the restaurant’s glass doors and then fled on foot heading west through the rear parking lot.

Third Precinct officers located the suspect, 25-year-old Brian J. Pfail, walking on Corporate Drive and attempted to interview him, police said.

Pfail became aggressive, yelling obscenities, and then struck an officer in the head, causing a laceration to the officer’s right hand, police said. A struggle then ensued and a second officer attempting to place Pfail into police custody was punched in his nose and bit on his left arm, police said.

Two other officers attempting to place Pfail in custody were also injured. A sergeant suffered multiple abrasions and a swollen left hand. Another officer was kicked in the stomach, police said. All four officers were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.
