Our organization provides essential support to Ukrainian Humanitarian parolees through the Ukraine Supplemental Appropriation to Resettlement Agencies (USARA) Program. Through USARA, we help individuals and families achieve stability, economic independence, and successful integration into the community. We serve Ukrainian citizens paroled into the U.S., as well as non-Ukrainians who resided in Ukraine and were paroled into the U.S. between February 24, 2022 and September 30, 2024. A North Massapequa woman who was supposed to make sure her friend's bills were paid while the friend recovered from a medical procedure instead forged checks from the friend's account and deposited them into her own bank account, police said Wednesday. Maureen Adamo, 52, was arrested on Tuesday. According to police, a 73-year-old Bellmore woman had asked Adamo to assist her with making sure her bills were paid, but beginning in January 2015, Adamo began to forge checks from the victim's account and deposit them into her own account, totaling a loss in excess of $50,000. Detectives located Adamo on Tuesday in Bethpage and placed her under arrest, police said. Adamo is charged with second degree grand larceny and four counts of second degree criminal possession of a forged instrument She will be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
