Police: N. Massapequa Woman Stole $50K From Elderly Friend
The 52-year-old was arrested Tuesday.

A North Massapequa woman who was supposed to make sure her friend’s bills were paid while the friend recovered from a medical procedure instead forged checks from the friend’s account and deposited them into her own bank account, police said Wednesday.
Maureen Adamo, 52, was arrested on Tuesday.
According to police, a 73-year-old Bellmore woman had asked Adamo to assist her with making sure her bills were paid, but beginning in January 2015, Adamo began to forge checks from the victim’s account and deposit them into her own account, totaling a loss in excess of $50,000.

Detectives located Adamo on Tuesday in Bethpage and placed her under arrest, police said.
Adamo is charged with second degree grand larceny and four counts of second degree criminal possession of a forged instrument She will be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
