Protecting Your Special Needs Children Legally and Financially Seminar

I’m pleased to present a very special workshop for parents of children with special needs.  My two speakers are experts at helping parents to navigate the confusing and emotional aspects of estate planning to best serve their special needs children throughout each child’s lifetime.

The event will take place on Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at  the Massapequa Veterans Post 88 (692 Broadway, Massapequa).

Seat(s) to the event can be reserved by calling Senator Hannon’s Community Office at 516-739-1700 or SIGN UP HERE: http://goo.gl/f8paib.

Speakers Andrew Cohen, Esq. and Mitch Weisbrot, CLU, ChSNC, will focus on the legal and financial preparations crucial to safeguarding assets and benefits for special needs children.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • Government benefits for individuals with disabilities
  • How to accumulate and preserve assets without disqualifying eligibility for benefits
  • Establishing guardianship
  • Estate planning and wills
  • Special needs trusts – how they work and why they’re useful
  • Strategies for funding trusts.

I encourage anyone with a special needs child to attend this seminar. The two speakers are fathers of children with disabilities, and their experiences and expertise will be invaluable to anyone who has any questions or concerns about best planning for the future needs of their disabled children.
