Teen Crashes Stolen Car On Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway, Tries To Flee Police: Cops

The 18-year-old crashed into a tree on the expressway while trying to flee from officers, police say.

A Bay Shore teen was arrested for trying to escape police after crashing a stolen car on the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway on Wednesday night, according to State Police.

At about 10:27 p.m., a state trooper tried to pull over a 2017 Mercedes-Benz on the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway southbound at Exit 2W, police said.

The driver, identified as 18-year-old Dante S. Peoples tried to flee the state trooper when he lost control of the car at the exit off ramp, causing him to leave the roadway and crash into the tree line, police said.

Peoples then attempted to flee the scene on foot before he was apprehended, police said.

The passenger, identified as 22-year-old Adrianna J. Markland, also of Bay Shore, remained at the scene, police said.

Police discovered that the 2017 Mercedes-Benz was reported stolen out of Suffolk County.

Peoples was charged with second degree criminal possession of stolen property, first degree unauthorized use of a vehicle, second degree reckless endangerment, third degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, fourth degree criminal mischief and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.

Markland was charged with second degree criminal possession of stolen property and third degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, police said.

Both are scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
