Tonight: Sunset Remembrance Ceremony for 9/11 Victims in Eisenhower Park

Ceremony to honor Nassau County victims as 9/11 anniversary looms.

As the 13th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks approaches, Nassau County will host a candlelight ceremony Monday evening in remembrance of the victims.

The Sunset Candlelight and Remembrance Ceremony will take place at 7 p.m. Monday at the Eisenhower Park 9/11 Memorial near Parking Field 6.

“The passage of time does not diminish the tragedy that our nation suffered 13 years ago,” said County Executive Ed Mangano in a statement. “As we prepare to observe a national day of remembrance on September 11th, it is imperative that we commemorate this day by reflecting and honoring those we lost that tragic morning and the bravery and heroism shown by first responders and our service men and women who continue to make sacrifices to secure our freedom and safety.”
