Unity Tour to Hit Jones Beach Stage Friday

311 and Slightly Stoopid's country-wide tour will stop at the Wantagh venue.

Celebrating their 10th annual Unity Tour, world renowned reggae-rock band 311 is getting "Slightly Stoopid" in 2012.

What started as a simple trip on the road in 2002 has evolved into a sought after tradition for 311 fans all over the world. This year, Slightly Stoopid is filling a supporting slot previously held by big name acts including Sublime with Rome, Matisyahu, Ziggy Marley and The Offspring.

With a loyal following, 311 hosted its first jam cruise in 2011 out of Miami, Fla., where they performed three concerts in route to the Bahamas and back. The band also held its first Pow Wow Festival, which unlike the cruise, was not repeated in 2012.

Die-hard fans have also flocked to Las Vegas each year to celebrate "311 Day" with a two-day concert dedicated to all things 311.

Slightly Stoopid emerged from Southern California in the early 1990s when late Sublime frontman Bradley Nowell offered them a gig in Long Beach. Today, Slightly Stoopid has released six studio albums and toured across the world with their original mix of blues-influenced acoustic rock.
