Wantagh Bank Robbery Foiled When Manager Spots Knife in Bag
The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon.

WANTAGH, NY- Police are investigating an attempted bank robbery that occurred in Wantagh on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Robbery Squad detectives, a man entered into the TD Bank located at 3222 Sunrise Highway around 2:15 p.m. with a long-bladed knife with a black handle that was visible in a bag.
After he was approached by the bank manager, the man fled with the knife and left the bag behind, police said. He was seen entering a newer white Ford Explorer with its plates covered with yellow paper traveling south on Wantagh Avenue.

The man is described as white, 6-feet tall, in his late 20s, with a thin build and brown hair. He was wearing a black jacket, gray sweat pants, white sneakers and a ski mask.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
