Wantagh Middle School Goes Big with Fundraising
It was named a "Top Ten" school on Long Island for fundraising for the American Heart Association.

Wantagh Middle School was named a Long Island “Top Ten” school for its 2015-16 fundraising efforts for Hoops for Heart, a program sponsored by the American Heart Association and SHAPE America – Society of Health and Physical Educators.
Under the direction of physical education teachers Eileen Keener, Tom Ligouri, Gary Reh and Keith Sacs, students participated in basketball-related activities and raised more than $8,400.
During the last 18 years, Wantagh Middle School has raised more than $150,000 for the American Heart Association for medical research and educational programs to fight heart disease and stroke. During the campaign, students learned about the lifelong health benefits of physical activity, importance of heart health and real-life lessons about volunteering, helping others, leadership and how their actions can help save lives.
