Wantagh Softball Bats Come Up Short Against Manhasset
Lady Warriors fall to 1-3 with 11-8 loss in game shortened by darkness to five innings.
The softball team head headed to Manhasset in a South Shore vs. North Shore battle where the Lady Warriors were seeking revenge for last year’s playoff defeat to the Indians. The Indians proved too strong however in this playoff rematch with the Lady Warriors falling 11-8 to drop to 1-3 on the young season.
Wantagh was attempting to rally from an 11-6 deficit and scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning before the game was called due to darkness. Manhasset built its large lead thanks to compiling eight runs in the bottom of the third and three more in the fourth inning.
Taylor Corwin started for Wantagh on the mound and relief pitcher Jaclyn Vicente also saw time in the pitcher's circle. Catcher Kellie Mignoli stepped up big on offense with a two-run double.
