Wantagh Students Wow With 'Anything Goes'

The students drew a full house for three days with their performances.

From the Wantagh School District: A talented cast and crew drew a full house during performances of Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes,” held in the Wantagh High School auditorium on Dec. 7-9, with a sneak performance for the community’s senior citizens on Dec. 6.

Under the direction of Heather Naughton and vocal director Jennifer Alessi, the cast amused the audience with this memorable tale about shenanigans on an ocean liner bound from New York to London. The gist of the tale featured stowaway Billy Crocker, played by Andrew Brunjes, who is love with heiress Hope Harcourt (Gabrielle Scibelli), engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh (Billy DeVito). Singer Reno Sweeney (Lindsay Whiteman) and Moonface Martin (Carlo Tobia) aid Billy in the quest to win Hope’s heart.

The pit orchestra, under the baton of Mindy Dragovich, entertained the audience with popular musical interludes, including “Anything Goes,” “You’re the Top” and “I Get a Kick Out of You.”
