Whale Spotted Frolicking And Feeding in Long Island Waters
The breathtaking animal was feeding in the water off Jones Inlet and putting on quite a show. More photos inside the story.

A Long Island photographer captured some beautiful shots of humpback whales feeding and swimming in the waters off Long Island on Sunday.
According to photographer Brian Doherty, their boat left the dock around 9:30 a.m. and out of Jones Inlet. First, the boat spotted a pod of dozens of Bottlenose dolphins. Then, about an hour later, they spotted the whales.
The humpback pictured here was feeding for about 45 minutes, Doherty said, and was diving deep for food. The whale dove down to eat, and then came back up for air, breaching the water multiple times. Once, the whale breached the water and landed about 20 feet from their boat.
