Big-Name Retailers To Hold Washington Heights, Inwood Job Fairs
The businesses opening in the retail section of the new GWB bus terminal will hold hiring fairs in Washington Heights and Inwood.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS-INWOOD, NY — Three big-name retailers moving into the retail concourse of the renovated George Washington Bridge bus terminal will hold job fairs this week in Washington Heights and Inwood.
Hiring fairs will be held Thursday, Aug. 31, at Isabella Geriatric Center on Audubon Avenue near West 191st Street and Friday, Sept. 1, at CUNY in the Heights at 5030 Broadway near West 213th Street. Thursday's job fair will be held from 5-8 p.m. and Friday's will be held from 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m., according to a news release.
Anyone attending the job fair should dress professionally and bring copies of their resumes.

The job fairs were organized by local leaders such as Congressman Adriano Espaillat, State Senator Marisol Alcantara, State Assemblywoman Carmen De La Rosa, Manhattan BP Gale Brewer, Community Board 12 and City Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez.
Many of those same officials held a rally outside of the George Washington Bridge location of Marshall's earlier this month to demand that big-name stores opening in the terminal fulfill promises to hire locally.

"The Port Authority and the developers promised out community that most of the jobs that will be created here will come to the local residents of Northern Manhattan," City Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez told Patch at the protest. "What we found out is that most of the jobs right now, that they did not start a process to hire local."
