WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A man was shot in both legs and the back early Monday morning in Washington Heights, police said. A shooter dressed black squeezed off the shots on West 190th Street near St. Nicholas Avenue about 2:30 a.m., police said. The shooter ran away and the victim, 29, was rushed to Harlem Hospital, police said. He is expected to survive.

Professors David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman and Beverly Gage will take the stage at the new Wachenheim Center to examine the history of the nation-state and the contested nature of American national identity.
