Second Man Arrested In Fatal Washington Heights Shooting

The 2016 shooting on the corner of West 157th Street and Amsterdam Avenue has suspected gang ties, police said.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A second man is facing charges for a fatal 2016 Washington Heights shooting with suspected gang ties, police told Patch.

Tyreke Singleton, 18, was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder, gang assault, assault and criminal weapons charges, police said. Singleton is being charged in connecting with the April 15, 2016, murder of Dejon McInnis, police told Patch.

McInnis was shot in the leg shortly after midnight in front of a deli on the corner of 157th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, police said. McInnis was transported to Harlem Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police told Patch. The bullet hit an artery in McInnis' right leg, police said.

Two months after the shooting, 18-year-old Gaston Taveras was arrested and charged with murder and weapons charges, police told Patch.
