Upper West Side School Closings For Winter Storm Niko

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Some schools in New York City are starting to announce closings for Thursday, when a snowstorm is expected to dump as much as a foot of snow on the city.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said city officials will make a decision on city schools this evening.

"But based on what we’re seeing right now, there’s a distinct possibility we’ll have to close schools," de Blasio said in an interview with 1010WINS. "We’ll have a definite answer this evening."

Here's which Upper West Side schools have announced closings so far, according to the schools and local media reports:

• All Upper West Side public schools will be closed
• The Calhoun School
• The Abraham Joshua Heschel School
• American Musical and Dramatic Academy
• Jewish Theological Seminary of America
• The School at Columbia University
