WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A man who stands accused of stabbing a Washington Heights resident to death has been arrested and charged with murder, police said on Friday.

Ezequiel Mendoza, 34, was arrested late Thursday night in connection to the death of Rashaun Howze, who was found fatally stabbed in the upper chest near West 158th Street and Riverside Drive about 5:20 a.m. that morning, police said.

Medics rushed Howze to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, but doctors could not save his life, police said.

Howze lived on the 158th Street block, while Mendoze lived nearby at 162nd Street, police said.

It is unclear if the two men knew each other.
