UPPER MANHATTAN, NY — Members of the City Council wield enormous power over what happens in New York City, and Patch wants to hear from Washington Heights and Inwood residents about what issues matter to them in this year's elections.

For the first time in more than a decade, Upper Manhattan has an open seat: Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez is term-limited from running again, and eight candidates are running to replace him in 2021.

Whoever wins will influence new development, vote on new laws, and serve as Washington Heights and Inwood's advocate in city government.
