Woman In Custody After Man Found Dead In Inwood: NYPD
A 71-year-old man was found dead with multiple stab wounds Wednesday inside his Inwood apartment, according to police.
INWOOD, NY — A 27-year-old woman is in custody after reports say she was seen leaving a building where a man was found dead early Wednesday morning, according to the NYPD and a report in The New York Daily News.
The 71-year-old man was found dead in his Inwood apartment near West 207th Street with cuts across his body, police said.
The Daily News reported that as police arrived on the scene, the woman was spotted running down the fire escape from the apartment where her boyfriend and the elderly victim lived.

Neighbors told the Daily News that the 71-year-old man lived with his adopted son and the younger man's girlfriend either lived with them or made regular visits.
That night, the elderly man had knocked on a neighbors door and begged to use his phone to call the police, according to the Daily News.

“His son’s girlfriend had locked herself in his bedroom with his phone,” he recalled to the Daily News. “He came out of his apartment and asked to use our phone. He called the police. He was physically scared of her because she’s big and strong.”
The case is being investigated as a homicide, but the Medical Examiner still needs to determine the cause of death.
