Woman Dead With Neck Trauma In Washington Heights Apartment, Police Say

The NYPD is investigating her death as a homicide.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Police are investigating after a woman was found dead with face and neck trauma in her Washington Heights apartment on Sunday, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, on Sept. 6 at 1:36 p.m., police made a wellness check at an apartment at 535 West 156th St.

When officers arrived, they found Lovay Williams, a 27-year-old woman, unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to her face and neck, police said.

Medics pronounced Williams dead on the scene, and police launched an investigation into the circumstances of the woman's death.

According to reports, the woman's five-year-old daughter answered the door when police arrived.

Though the NYPD is investigating her death as a homicide, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

No arrests have been made.
