Woman Killed In Harlem River Drive Hit-And-Run: NYPD

The driver fled after striking the unidentified woman near High Bridge, police said.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash on the Harlem River Drive Sunday night, police said.

The woman was in the roadway near High Bridge when she was struck by a driver heading north in the left lane at about 7:24 p.m., according to the NYPD.

The crash knocked the woman to the pavement and left her with severe head injuries, police said. Paramedics rushed her to Harlem Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver fled the scene, police said.

The woman’s identity has not yet been released, and police did not provide a description of the vehicle involved.

No arrests had been made as of Thursday. The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
