• Seeking Candidates for Wellsville Town Board Vacancy (wellsvillesun.com) — Wellsville residents have a chance to step directly into local leadership, as the Town Board is seeking applicants to fill a vacant seat through December 31, 2027. Eligible town or village residents must be registered voters, at least 18, and able to attend monthly meetings. Letters of interest are due to the Town Clerk by October 9 at 4 p.m.
   

• Woman accused of hitting same Wellsville 7-Eleven twice in 9 days (shorenewsnetwork.com) — Wellsville police say a 25-year-old woman with no permanent address is accused of stealing from the same 7-Eleven on August 5 and again on August 14. She was located at the Allegany County Office Building, turned over to Wellsville officers, and charged with two counts of petit larceny. She is being held in county jail pending arraignment and a later appearance in Wellsville Village Court.
   

• District Attorney: Jury finds man accused of shooting Wellsville resident in 2024 guilty of three felony counts (wellsvillesun.com) — A jury has convicted Gregory S. Miller on three felony counts stemming from a 2024 shooting that seriously injured a Wellsville resident during a dispute in the town. He now faces mandatory prison time, with sentencing set for November 23. Allegany County prosecutors say the case underscores their focus on protecting local residents from violent crime.
