4 West Village Landmarked Properties Set For Possible Changes
Four landmarked locations in the West Village have hearings coming up to decide whether a variety of changes can get made to the properties

WEST VILLAGE, NY — Hearings are set in September for a handful of buildings within Lower Manhattan landmarked properties.
Specifically, changes to four buildings in the Greenwich Village, West Village, and NoHo will have both a Community Board 2 hearing and a NYC Landmark Preservation hearing in the coming weeks.
The proposed changes range from replacing windows to breaking down walls and setting plans for future construction.

2 Ninth Avenue

- Gansevoort Market Historic District (Between West 12th Street and West 13th Street)
- Community Board Hearing: Sept. 10
- Landmark Preservation Hearing: Sept. 22
- Reason for hearing: The application is to install signage on the canopy of the building.
85 Christopher Street
- Greenwich Village Historic District (Between Seventh Avenue South and Bleecker Street)
- Community Board 2 Hearing: Sept. 10
- Landmark Preservation Hearing: Sept. 22
- Reason for hearing: To replace all the windows on the street-facing side of the ground floor.
770 Broadway
- NoHo Historic District (Between Wanamaker Place and East 8th Street)
- Community Board 2 Hearing: Sept. 10
- Landmark Preservation Hearing: Sept. 22
- Reason for the hearing: To establish a master plan to decide the future installation of a storefront infill and signage.
72-76 West 11th Street
- Greenwich Village Historic District (Between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue)
- Community Board 2 Hearing: Sept. 10
- Landmarks Preservation Hearing: Sept. 22
- Reason For The Hearing: The application is to reconstruct and alter one of the street walls.
