84-Year-Old Sent To Hospital After Union Square Mugging: Cops

UNION SQUARE, MANHATTAN — An 84-year-old woman was sent to the hospital Monday after she was robbed in a bank near Union Square, cops said.

The thief came up to the woman inside of Amalgamated Bank on East 14th Street just before 2 p.m. He snatched $80 from her hand before running into the Union Square subway station, police said.

Police said the woman had minor injuries from the robbery and was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital. She was in stable condition, cops said.

The mugging came the day after Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued a stay-at-home order across the state, which has the most stringent rules for staying inside for those 70 years and older.

The order mandated all businesses to close or have employees work from home except for "essential" services, which includes banks.
