SoHo Brewery Gives Free Beer To First Responders
Torch & Crown was supposed to open its SoHo brewery this spring. Instead the space will be used to hand out beer to first responders.
SOHO, MANHATTAN — A new brewery in SoHo will give out free beer to first responders on Friday.
Torch & Crown Brewing Company, which was supposed to open its brewery and restaurant at 12 Vandam St. this spring, has instead been raising money to give out free beer to first responders during the coronavirus crisis. The SoHo brewery's opening has been postponed because of the pandemic.
The brewery has raised enough for hundreds of beers through its "Buy a First Responder a Beer" program.

"It’s been a tough few months for New York City," Torch & Crown said. "We get it, we feel it, and we want to show our appreciation for our first responders as a local business that cares deeply about our community and where we choose to do business."

The beer giveaway will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. and will let each first responder walk away with a four-pack.
Those who show up to the #FirstResponderFriday should have proof of first responder employment and a valid ID. More information about how to get the beer could be found here.
Torch & Crown was started in 2018 by CEO John Dantzler with long-time best friend and Head Brewer, Joe Correia. The brewery is known for its same-day beer delivery in Manhattan, which it was the first to roll-out. They've also expanded deliveries to Brooklyn and Queens and recently launched a contactless pickup option within Manhattan.
