Fire Breaks Out On Roof Of West Village Building: FDNY

Roughly 60 firefighters are responding to a blaze at 48 8th Avenue in the West Village, according to the FDNY.

WEST VILLAGE, NY — An all-hands fire broke out around noon Thursday on the roof of a residential building in the West Village, fire officials said.

Fire crews responded at 12:06 p.m. to a reported fire at 48 8th Avenue. They determined the fire was burning on the roof of the two-story building, an FDNY spokesperson said.

There were no reported injuries as of 1 p.m. Thursday, but roughly 60 firefighters were still at the scene attempting to put the fire out, the spokesperson said.
