GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — Greenwich Village is set to get a new grocery store in 2023 as Lincoln Market just signed a lease for a new store in the neighborhood.

Lincoln Market, which already has six locations across New York City, inked a 20-year lease for a 10,621-square-foot store at 501 Sixth Ave (between 12th and 13th streets) that served as a Rite Aid location for years.

The store is slated to open in the beginning of 2023.

“It’s great to work with Lincoln Market to bring grocery retail that really caters to the neighborhoods they service,” said Scott Sher, Managing Director, Katz & Associates, who represented Lincoln Market in the deal. “The stores are really assets to their communities.”

Lincoln Market offers prepared food, meats, organic and vegan options, fresh produce, deli options, hot foods, sushi, seafood, and online ordering.

The grocery store chain started in Brooklyn, and this will be its second location in Manhattan. There is also a Harlem location expected to open in the coming years.

Lincoln Market will be replacing a Rite Aid at the same location that shuttered sometime between 2020 and 2021.

The grocery store replacing the major vacant building should be an added positive for Greenwich Village residents.

The section of Sixth Avenue is a busy one, which includes the iconic Murray's Bagels and a Chipotle across the street.
