You can take an online drinking trip through Greenwich Village's most historic literary locations.
GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — Few neighborhoods in Manhattan have as rich a history as Greenwich Village, and you can take a virtual tour of a collection of the most famous spots.
The Literary Pub Crawl, a decades-old walking tour in the Greenwich Village, has moved its operation online to allow virtual travelers to make their way through some of the neighborhood's most famous bars and historic literary locations.
On the virtual tour, you will hear the stories, poems, and prose connected to a collection of the organization's favorite Village bars.

The Literary Pub Crawl's Greenwich Village program is the oldest continuously operating walking tour in the neighborhood.
"Literary Pub Crawl's in-depth knowledge and underground cult status has brought passion for history, literature, and drinking to the Village since 1998," said the Greenwich Village Society for Historical Preservation, in its newsletter.

The Literary Pub Crawl in Greenwich Village began in 1998 when a young theater company was looking to raise money for their inaugural production of "Romeo and Juliet" and would hold regular meetings at the White Horse Tavern.
The company would go on to hold several roving readings at their favorite neighborhood pubs, and the walking tour was eventually born.
