Man Attacks, Makes Racist Remarks To Pair Near Union Sq: Police

The attacker yelled anti-Asian remarks at a man and woman in Lower Manhattan, according to police.

UNION SQUARE, NY — The New York Police Department is looking for a man who approached a 29-year-old male and his female friend near Union Square Park on Wednesday and yelled racist anti-Asian comments.

The unidentified racist also attacked the 29-year-old man with his bike and backpack, before fleeing on the wheels in an unknown direction, according to police.

Police describe the attacker as Hispanic, 5-feet, 8 inches to 11 inches, 210 to 230 pounds, with shoulder-length braids. He was last wearing a white tank top and black pants, police said.

The incident took place in front of 893 Broadway in Lower Manhattan, almost directly between Madison Square Park and Union Square Park.

Police released a photo of the suspect on Friday.
