EAST VILLAGE, MANHATTAN — A video was released Tuesday of two New York City police officers shooting a knife-wielding man in the East Village on June 4.

Bahadoran then switched directions and demanded a pack of cigarettes from the deli owner, police said. The man placed the knife on the counter to pick up the cigarettes, police said, and the quick-thinking deli employee grabbed the knife and handed it to one of the officers.
Bahadoran made his way back outside by pushing past one of the officers to where a group of responding officers immediately met him, police said. Now no longer with the knife in hand, he lunged toward the officers and was shot twice, with a bullet hitting his left arm and lower back, police said.

Bahadoran was charged with robbery 1st degree, menacing a police officer, menacing 2nd degree, and menacing 3rd degree.
