2 Charged With DWI After Fiery LI Crash; 1 Had Juvenile In Car: Police
The crash took place in East Quogue Friday night, police say.
EAST QUOGUE, NY — Two people were arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a fiery crash in East Quogue Friday night — and one had a juvenile passenger in the car, police said.
According to Southampton Town Police, the crash took place at 11:38 p.m. on Country Road 104 and Jeffrey Lane. Police said they found two people trapped in one vehicle, and another vehicle on fire but unoccupied.
New York State Police, Quogue Village Police and Westhampton Beach Police responded to the scene and a NYSP K-9 unit tracked the individual from the burning car a short distance away, police said.

Moscoso Almazan , 44, of East Quogue had been driving the car that was on fire; he was arrested, charged with DWI, and taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, police said. He was then released from Peconic Bay Medical Center and transported to Southampton Town Police headquarters for processing, police said.
The operator of the second vehicle, John Salazar, 18, of Westhampton, and his juvenile passenger
were removed from their vehicle, and it was determined that Salazar was also intoxicated, police said.

He was arrested and taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment, police said. The juvenile
passenger was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center, treated for injuries and released to their
parents, police said.
Salazar was charged with driving while intoxicated/Leandra’s Law, a felony, and endangering
the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, police said. He was transported to Southampton Town Police headquarters for processing and held for arraignment, police said.
