HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A cat who was left alone in an empty house after his family moved away, leaving him behind, desperately needs a new home.
According to the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation, at 11 years old, "Sterling was found alone in a house after the people who lived there moved away — took everything — and left him behind."
A good Samaritan found the cat left alone in the house, they said.
"We reached out to the family; however, they were not interested in claiming Sterling again," the SASF said. "It’s something we’ll never understand — especially after meeting him and discovering he’s one of the sweetest, gentlest boys you could ever know."
Everything Sterling had ever known is gone, the SASF said.
"Now he sits in his cage with no hope," they said. "No senior should live like this — he doesn’t have years to be waiting."
Sterling, the SASF said, needs a new home to call his own. "Please open your heart today," they said.
