LONG ISLAND, NY — All eyes will be on Long Island Friday, with President Donald Trump reportedly set to pay a visit.
And it's not the first time that Trump's appearance on Long Island has sparked a flurry of interest.
Trump is slated to embark upon a tour of county law enforcement facilities —and pay tribute to members of the county's law enforcement community, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman said.
In a statement Monday, Blakeman said he is thankful that the president is expected to visit this week.
"I am grateful that President Trump is coming to Nassau County to tour our outstanding, state-of-the-art law enforcement facilities and pay tribute to the men and women of our Police Department, Sheriff's Department, Probation Department, and our firefighters for their outstanding efforts to protect our county, state, and country," Blakeman said.
The DailyCaller.com said that during his visit, Trump is expected to reveal the Federal Bureau of Investigation's 2025 Crime Statistics Report, which documents the largest year-to-year drop in violent crime on record.
Trump is expected to visit the Nassau County Police Academy with Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel, the outlet reported; however, those details have not yet been publicly confirmed.
Trump has been a longtime supporter of Blakeman, who is running to unseat Gov. Kathy Hochul in November.
The president has been not just a longtime advocate, but something of a blueprint for political success for Blakeman, who has won back-to-back elections for County Executive.
Trump endorsed the Nassau County Executive in his race for governor in December, the day after Elise Stefanik dropped out of the race.
"Bruce Blakeman is a FANTASTIC guy, will win the big November Election and, without hesitation, has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Governor of the ONCE GREAT STATE OF NEW YORK (IT CAN BE GREAT AGAIN!)," Trump wrote in a Dec. 20 Truth Social post.
On the policy front, Blakeman and Trump have aligned on several issues including transgender athletic participation and local law enforcement's ability to work alongside ICE.
The visit will be the most recent in a series of events that brought Trump to Long Island, including forums to address escalating gang violence, during which he said the deadly MS-13 gang had turned Long Island into "blood-stained killing fields."
In 2018, he also spoke to the parents of two Long Island teens killed in a horrfic act of MS-13 gang-violence.
He introduced "two fathers and two mothers: Evelyn Rodriguez, Freddy Cuevas, Elizabeth Alvarado, and Robert Mickens," whose girls, Kayla Cuevas and Nisa Mickens, were close friends on Long Island, Trump said.
"But in September 2016, on the eve of Nisa's 16th Birthday — such a happy time it should have been — neither of them came home," he said. "These two precious girls were brutally murdered while walking together in their hometown. Six members of the savage MS-13 gang have been charged with Kayla and Nisa's murders."
According to Trump, many of the gang members "took advantage of glaring loopholes in our laws to enter the country as illegal, unaccompanied alien minors, and wound up in Kayla and Nisa's high school."
He added: "Evelyn, Elizabeth, Freddy, and Robert: Tonight, everyone in this chamber is praying for you. Everyone in America is grieving for you. . . I want you to know that 320 million hearts are right now breaking for you. We love you."
Trump has also traveled to Long Island for fundraising events in the Hamptons — at times, flying into Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton — and for a highly-publicized rally at what-was-then Nassau Coliseum, in 2024.
Trump's visits have long sparked a mix of emotions amongst residents, from those buoyed by an uptick in business and from others, who expressed concerns over protests, traffic woes, and parking.
