HAMPTON BAYS, NY — Hampton Bays students took a big step in working toward shoreline resiliency and habitat improvement this week.
On Tuesday, Hampton Bays High School science research students, under the instruction of Dr. Stephanie Forsberg, worked with the Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program to collect Spartina seeds, according to a release.
The seeds will be cultivated into plant material to aid in shoreline resiliency and habitat improvement projects around Southampton. Spartina plants are frequently found in salt marshes.
