Technology Librarian Dave Jones will be celebrating his 10th Anniversary at the Westhampton Free Library this June. "I was hired as the Head of Reference & Adult Services in 2004. In 2005 I added Teen Services to my list of duties before moving to be the Head of Cataloging and Teen Services in 2010. In 2012 I was given the opportunity to create a new department called Computers and Digital Services department," said Mr. Jones.
The Computers & Digital Services Department staffs the Inspiration Bar located in the front of the library. The name "Inspiration Bar" comes from the Library’s aim to inspire patrons in incorporating technology into their lives. "The two greatest joys I get from my job are helping people learn new technology and working with our community’s youth. Educating our patrons on how to use computers and other electronic devices including the library’s digital resources gives me great satisfaction," he said.
Since 2005 he has led the Library’s Saturday evening teen programs. "It gives me tremendous pride to see our community’s youth grow into adults," he added.

He loves all things technology and found that by being a librarian he was able to help people not only understand technology, but use it and enrich their lives. Coming to work at Westhampton Free Library was a great decision. "We have the greatest patrons, who really love their library, and it fills me with pride to see them enjoy their time here. I love that Westhampton is a small, friendly community where everyone knows your name," he concluded.
Dave Jones is a tremendous asset to the Westhampton Free Library and the community. The next time someone says the library is just books, introduce them to Mr. Jones and their perception of libraries will change.
