Hour-by-Hour Snowstorm Forecast For Westhampton-Hampton Bays

A winter storm warning is now in effect for all of Long Island with up to 8 inches of snow expected to fall by Thursday evening.

The National Weather Service is predicting 6-8 inches of snow for the southern half of the island and 4-6 inches for the northern half.

Looking at the extremes, there’s a 90 percent chance of more than 2 inches of snow on Long Island and a 10 percent chance the island sees more than 10 inches, according to a NWS weather briefing.

Hazardous travel conditions are expected for the Thursday morning commute.

Rain mixed with sleet and snow Wednesday night will change to all snow after midnight. Snow may be heavy at times through Thursday morning before it tapers off in the late afternoon into the evening, the NWS says.

Winds that pick up during the day on Thursday will cause blowing and drifting snow. Wind chill temperatures will approach zero late Thursday night into Friday morning.
