Man Airlifted After Being Hit By Car In Hampton Bays

BREAKING: The man was airlifted and rushed to the hospital after being struck down Thursday morning, police said.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A man was airlifted after being hit by a car in a Hampton Bays shopping plaza Thursday morning, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police Sgt. James Cavanagh, the call came in at 9:41 a.m. about a pedestrian struck by a 2000 Lexus outside of Wild By Nature, located on West Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays.

The man, 51, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital after Suffolk County aviation landed in Red Creek Park, he said.

An investigation is pending into incident, Cavanagh said; it is not immediately clear if charges will be filed, he added.

Hampton Bays Fire Department and Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance responded to the scene, he said.
