Man Dies After Being Shot, Driving Himself to 7-Eleven

The shooting occurred in Center Moriches early Sunday, police say.

CENTER MORICHES, NY - Police are investigating the shooting death of a man in Center Moriches early Sunday morning.

Seventh Precinct detectives responded to a 7-Eleven located at 632 Main Street after a 911 caller reported that a man with a gunshot wound to his leg was in the store’s parking lot around 2:40 a.m., police said.

The man, who drove his own vehicle to the convenience store, was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, where he died from his injuries, police said. It is unclear where the actual shooting took place.

The victim’s identification is being withheld pending notification to next of kin, police said.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
