WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — Seeds of change were planted at Westhampton Beach Elementary School last week.

As part of a PTA-sponsored program, young students were back in their school’s greenhouse on Nov. 14 and 15, the district said.

During the session, students worked with farm educator Renato Stafford, owner of Homegrown, to create a compost pile that will break down into soil for use in the greenhouse’s garden beds. Students also learned how to harvest and store various seeds — and tried greens that were grown in the greenhouse, the district said.
